     ศาสนา เป็นเครื่องยึดเหนี่ยวทางด้านจิตใจ ทำให้มนุษย์สามารถดำรงชีวิตอยู่ได้อย่างปกติสุข เนื่องเพราะศาสนามีคำสอน มีหลักการ มีข้อกำหนด รวมถึงมีการตั้งกฎกติกาในการปฏิบัติตน เหตุที่มนุษย์ต้องการความมั่นคงทางด้านจิตใจเป็นอย่างมากนี่เอง เราจึงเห็นได้ว่าในโลกมีศาสนาเกิดขึ้นมากมาย แต่ศาสนาที่ผู้คนส่วนใหญ่ให้ความศรัทธานับถือหลักๆ มีอยู่ 5 ศาสนาด้วยกัน ได้แก่ คริสต์ อิสลาม พุทธ ยูดาย และฮินดู มีบางทัศนะว่า ที่จะถูกเรียกว่าเป็นศาสนาได้นั้นต้องมีองค์ประกอบที่สำคัญคือการมีพระเจ้าและคัมภีร์ที่เป็นคำสั่งหรือคำสอน หากนอกเหนือจากนั้นจะเรียกว่าเป็นลัทธิ ในที่นี้เราไม่ขอยึดตามทัศนะที่ว่านั้น เพราะเราจะพยายามให้ความสำคัญต่อจำนวนผู้ศรัทธาของผู้คนบนโลกนี้ที่มีต่อคำสอนของศาสดาของแต่ละศาสนาเป็นเกณฑ์ แต่ทั้งนี้ทั้งนั้นเรามีความเชื่อว่าทุกศาสนาหรือแม้แต่ลัทธิต่างๆ ที่ถูกกำหนดมา ล้วนมุ่งสอนให้คนกระทำแต่ความดี ละเว้นความชั่วทั้งสิ้น..

"And in their [the earlier prophets] footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the law that had come before him. We sent him the Gospel, therein was guidance and light and confirmation of the law that had come before him, a guidance and an admonition to those who fear God." Al Al Quran : Chapter 5, Verse 46
